Financial Support

We believe that a vital part of belonging is helping to 'pay the bills'. Making a regular financial contribution to the work of the local church is not only biblical but a very practical way of standing shoulder to shoulder with the whole church and demonstrating your commitment and support.

Where does the money go?

The work of St Saviour's, clergy and staff salaries and property, are financed entirely from the contributions of its members. Additional income is raised through the commercial letting of our facilities to local charities, businesses and government which helps pay for the upkeep of these facilities. A full financial report, audited accounts and annual budget is published each year and made available at the Annual Church Meeting. The elected PCC scrutinises and authorises expenditure throughout the year.
In addition, 17% of money received by St Saviour's is given in charitable aid to overseas agencies, mission partners and partnerships.

Additional offerings are sometimes raised in the event of a disaster or a missionary endeavour, etc. These are taken in addition to regular giving.
Visitors to the church are under no obligation to give.

How can you give?

By:-

  • Bank Standing Order
  • One-off gift - cheque or CAF voucher (made out to St Saviour's  Church Guildford)
  • Bank Transfer - please use your name as the reference so we can identify the gift as coming from you for Gift Aid reclaim;
  • Payroll Giving - Under the terms of your employers 'Give as you earn' scheme;
  • Gifts/donations - can be placed in the plate at the back of the church at each of our Sunday Services, or handed into the office.

By far the easiest and most tax-efficient form of giving, helpful for our own budget projections, is to set up a Standing Order: you can download a form (PDF format) or pick one up from the Welcome Desk in the Church Centre on Sundays or from Reception in the Church Centre during office hours. If you are a UK taxpayer, please fill in the Gift Aid declaration in order for us to claim back 25%.

For confidential information or advice about financial giving to St Saviour's, please contact our church treasurer Chris How, in confidence, via the church office.

Commitment Day 2012

Each year we have a Commitment Day when we pledge our giving for the coming year.  Commitment Day 2012 will be held on Sunday 25th March.  Each family on our database has been given an envelope with all the forms and a Commitment Day Life Magazine setting out the hopes for 2012.  You can download a copy of the 2012 Pledge and Gift Aid form here or alternatively pick up an envelope from reception or the back of church.
