International Mission Partnerships
Historically St Saviour's has had many mission interests around the world, as have members of its congregations. In recent years, whilst encouraging people's various interests and commitments, we have focused on a limited number of partnerships which we have endeavoured to make truly mutual, relationships of sharing and learning that challenge and enrich our engagement with our missionary task locally in Guildford.
Currently these mission partnerships are:
- The Episcopal Diocese of Egypt, especially;
a. The Alexandria School of Theology
b. The Hospital (Harpur Memorial Hospital) and the church at Menouf - The Anglican Church in Ethiopia (part of the Diocese of Egypt), especially the rapidly developing new work in Western Ethiopia amongst both Sudanese and Ethiopians.
- The Anglican Diocese of Rumbek (part of the Episcopal Church of Sudan). A new link that will probably focus on theological education training of pastors.
These first three partnerships together constitute a particular focus on North Eastern Africa, an area where we expect to continue learning richly. In addition, we have four other international mission partnerships as follows:
- The Church Mission Society
- Amos Trust -whose work is particularly focused on Palestine, South Africa and Nicaragua.
- The Iranian Church - in Iran and in exile, especially through Elam Ministries and the ministry of Revd. Bassi Mirzania.
- Letra Viva (a Christian literature ministry in South America)
